FAQ & troubleshooting
Answers to the questions we get most often.
General
Where are the theme options?
In Appearance › Customize. ProMax: Colors & Layout, Theme Options, ProMax WooCommerce and Social Icons. ProMax Pro: Blog Layout, Google Fonts, Colors & Design, Theme Options & Settings, Social Icons and ProMax WooCommerce Settings. See ProMax settings and ProMax Pro settings.
My home page shows a page instead of the post grid
Go to Settings › Reading and set Your homepage displays to Your latest posts. If you want a static front page, pick a separate Posts page; the grid appears there.
Post card images look blurry or the wrong shape
Images uploaded before you switched to ProMax (or before version 3.0 / Pro 5.0) don't have the card size yet. Install Regenerate Thumbnails and run it once.
My menu icons (fa fa-…) disappeared
Turn Load Font Awesome 4 icon font back on. ProMax: Theme Options. Pro: Theme Options & Settings › General Settings.
My menu doesn't show
- Check the menu is assigned to a location in Appearance › Menus › Manage Locations.
- Check the bar isn't switched off (ProMax: Colors & Layout; Pro: Theme Options & Settings › Menu Navigation).
- The Main Navigation bar only appears when a menu is assigned to it.
The sidebar is missing
ProMax hides the sidebar when it has no widgets and Popular Posts is off. In Pro, also check Website layout in Colors & Design, the post's own Layout box, and Sidebar on phones and tablets in Theme Options › Mobile. WooCommerce pages have their own shop layout.
What size should the header banner be?
728×90 pixels, the standard leaderboard size. On phones it scales down to fit. Add it as an Image block or ad code in the Header Right Widget area.
Can I change the footer text?
Yes. Footer copyright text in the theme options replaces “Copyright © [year]”; you can use links and basic formatting. The theme credit link that follows it is part of the template.
Is the theme translation ready?
Yes, including right-to-left languages. See Translations.
ProMax Pro
The slider doesn't show
- At least one slide needs an image (Theme Options & Settings › Slider).
- It shows on the blog home page only, and not on page 2 onwards.
- With a static front page, it shows on the Posts page.
I added social icons but they don't show
In Customize › Social Icons, set Right side of the top navigation bar to Social icons. Each icon also needs a network and a URL.
The YouTube video doesn't appear in the card
Check the ID or URL in the post's YouTube Video Thumbnail box. A video ID is 11 characters, such as aqz-KE-bpKQ. Videos don't show in the Compact list layout, which uses small thumbnails.
I switched from ProMax to Pro and my colours are back to default
WordPress saves Customizer settings per theme. Your widgets and menus carry over, but pick the colour scheme and options again in Pro. See Upgrading to Pro.
How do I update Pro?
New versions appear in Dashboard › Updates. You can also download the latest zip from your InsertCart account and upload it in Appearance › Themes › Add New Theme › Upload Theme, choosing Replace current with uploaded. Settings are kept either way.
Does Pro contact Google?
Only if you choose a font other than Open Sans. Turn off Google Fonts in Customize › Google Fonts to never contact Google. YouTube thumbnails use the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain.
WooCommerce
How do I show a sidebar on shop pages?
Set Shop layout to Shop Sidebar and add widgets to the Shop Sidebar area, or choose Same sidebar as the blog. See Shop layout.
The Quick Checkout button is missing on some products
It only appears on simple products. Variable, grouped and external products need options chosen (or link elsewhere) before checkout.
